The piston container (transfer vessel / piston accumulator) stores, transfers and delivers oil, water, gas, reagent solutions and other fluids into the flow circuit under high pressure. A floating piston separates the sample from the pump's working fluid: pressure is transmitted through the piston and the fluid is displaced into the rig without mixing or contamination.
Standard versions hold 100 and 200 mL at working pressures up to 80 MPa and temperatures up to 100 °C; other volumes are made to specification. Body steel grade, seal package and connection type are selected for the working medium and plumbing layout.
The container integrates with pumps, back-pressure regulators, microfluidic chips, core holders and reactor lines and is used in microfluidic, PVT, EOR, filtration and reactor experiments. Seals and fittings can be swapped for a new medium, so one design serves many projects.
