LABADVANCE develops the microfluidic cell both as a standalone engineered unit and as part of a complete system: chip and holder materials, seals, working volume, port count and fittings are chosen for the working medium, pressure, temperature and observation method.
Cells come in three versions. HPHT cells for oil and gas use silicon-glass chips and high-pressure holders for EOR, PVT observations, fracturing and multiphase flow studies — up to 350 °C and 89 MPa with an appropriately designed holder and plumbing. Flow-synthesis cells use glass, ceramic and metal chips, including Hastelloy, for solvents and aggressive media. PDMS cells for biomedicine use polymer chips for low-pressure work, cell protocols, droplet microfluidics and diagnostic device prototyping.
A cell can be modified, replaced, reproduced in series or adapted to an existing rig: to test a new hypothesis you change only the chip, the holder or the channel geometry — not the whole setup.
