The set combines a line of silicon-and-glass microfluidic chips with microfluidic tooling for high-pressure, high-temperature oil-and-gas research. The void space of the chips reproduces the geometry of real pore space, matching the characteristics of typical carbonate and sandstone reservoirs.
The line covers a permeability range from 0.1 to 1000 mD by varying channel depth and width.
Typical uses are screening and optimization of enhanced-oil-recovery methods, PVT-property determination, minimum-miscibility-pressure measurement and solid-precipitation conditions. A standardized line with tooling replaces one-off chip fabrication for each project and gives repeatable laboratory studies from run to run.
